Message from Pat - Quest for Leadership

"The familiar life horizon has been outgrown; the old concepts, ideals and emotional patterns no longer fit; the time for the passing of a threshold is at hand"

~Joseph Campbell

I just came back from a wonderful three and one-half day retreat with an organization called Rites of Passage.

This retreat called Quest for Leadership brought me back in touch with nature. Not only with nature surrounding me, but most importantly, with my own nature. With my innate wisdom.

One of the most valuable things I believe I provide my clients is a time to retreat from the frantic pace and noise of their day to day world. I believe that the time we spend together allows them the time to get a bit of quiet and introspection. To be able to tap into their own wisdom. They know it's there, but the noise around them is so much louder it is difficult to hear.

This is the reason I decided to go to this workshop. I have been feeling a bit out of synch with those around me and with the World in general. I was questioning what is next for me in my Leadership in the world. I wanted a deeper understanding of how my leadership might fit into a bigger picture and a Bigger Game.

I also wanted to connect again with nature. I live in a very beautiful place, but can never seem to find the time to spend a bit of it in the natural areas that are easily accessible to me.

The traditional hierarchical structures of command and control that are still in organizations are slowly dying. This type of leadership does not work any longer in our complex and rapidly changing world.

The focus on Leadership now is to discover and cultivate our own innate wisdom. We then can bring this forward and inform how we naturally want to be as a Leader and how we can make a positive impact.

This is truly leading from within.

When I was training at Coaches Training Institute, one of the concepts I learned is that we all have our own answers. It just takes time, great questions and going inside to find the answers.

At this part of my journey, my answers are all within me. You might want to take a look there yourself and see what you may find.

You might finally answer these questions for yourself:

What is my highest calling?

What is the legacy I will leave behind?

How can I make a profound difference?

How can I best lead?

"It was impossible to stay indoors. My room seemed too small to contain my happiness. I needed the whole of nature to unbosom myself."

~ Alexandre Dumas

Step into leading and play a Bigger Game in your life...don't wait...model leadership...the World needs us to do this.

Lead strong!

Excerpt from The Therma Collection of Nepal

What in your life is calling you?
When all the noise is silenced,
the meetings adjourned,
the lists laid aside,
and the wild iris bloom by
itself in the dark forest,
what still pulls on your soul?

In the silence between your
Heartbeat hides a summons.
Do you hear it?
Name it if you must,
or leave it forever nameless,
but why pretend it is not there?

My Shields in my Quest for Leadership

Written by me at the Quest for Leadership Workshop

In my Mother Country,
if you don't find your purpose,
the spirits take it back.
I'm not willing to let mine go,
and this, the spirits know.
So I go to where there is nothing.

I sit in the South
with the bright red sun warming my naked skin.
Feeling joyful, open and growing
I am wildly carefree
learning from what's in front of me.
The South brings me hummingbirds, butterflies, and salamanders.
My gift to you is a rainbow bouquet.

I sit in the West
in the midst of fallen leaves and branches and pinecones.
They nourish the earth and bring new seed.
Only the blackness of the forest
lets the stars shine their brightest.
And the shadows that are moving
transform everything by their movement.
The West brings me reflection, insight, and radical transformation.
My gift to you is the burning wood
whose center is always alive.

I sit in the North
and tell my story to my people.
I hold the container of
what serves us best.
I embrace the diversity of who we are.
Our gifts are our bounty.
We live our calling serving the greater whole.
The North brings me wisdom.
My gift to you is clarity and survival from the hardship.

I sit in the East
and see the Vision.
The Spirit lightly touches my cheek
and I become Spirit.
I am a salmon seeker.
I ask "how" to see.
I ask "how" to keep my eyes wide open.
I am told Honesty, Openness, and Willingness.
The "Ball of All" is tossed to me.
I catch it quickly and hold it loosely.
I know this is not a symbol of anything.
This is the reality of everything.
The East brings me Vision.
My gift to you is light.

In my Mother Country,
if you don't find your purpose,
the spirits take it back.
I've found mine
And the spirits have moved on.

You might want to go where there is nothing.

Brief Biography:

Pat Obuchowski is the CEO (Chief Empowerment Officer) of inVisionaria. inVisionaria is a company devoted to helping people and organizations find and achieve their vision and their voice. She works with individuals and organizations that are looking for structure, focus and accountability to set and achieve their goals. She also works with people who are ready to make big changes in their businesses and their lives and step into the leaders they've been yearning to be. People who are ready, willing and able to begin playing their "Bigger Game." No kidding. Right now.

The approach to achieve this and create this alliance is individually based and is designed between Pat and each of her clients.

"Pat is very down to earth, honest and open, intuitive, caring, and very knowledgeable about how companies and organizations operate. I trust Pat completely, which is very important when working on such sensitive and potentially volatile personal matters.

After our sessions were over, and using what I'd learned from Pat, I wrote a memo to my boss outlining why my job title didn't fit what I was doing - and it worked - I was promoted. Without Pat's support and guidance, I would not have been able to take any of the steps required for me to get from being the quiet person to being the woman who stood up to the CEO and said - "You must promote me!"

Pat is an ace at what she does and I recommend her without reservations."
